The Company
The world is facing a medical crisis, bacteria are increasingly evolving resistance to even our strongest antibiotics. The problem is already very real and immediate; for example, bloodstream infection leading to sepsis is now responsible for more than half of all deaths in hospitals and is the most expensive condition treated in hospitals. Sepsis mortality rate increases >6% every hour without effective antibiotic treatment. Yet, despite the life and death urgency, and healthcare cost impacts, current methodologies require 3 days to determine the correct antibiotic.

Specific Diagnostics, a bioMerieux company, has developed a breakthrough solution to rapidly determine the effective antibiotic treatment for bloodstream and other acute infections. Used for bloodstream infection Specific’s solution provides results 2 days sooner than existing methods, saving patients suffering from drug-resistant infection.

The Job
This is the job for you if you have strong project management skills; like focusing on the details to ensure things are done right and enjoy problem solving. Success in the role relies on working collaboratively with a team, and skilled management of contractors and service providers. There will be many requests from internal team members, the job requires adept management to prioritize and execute against a plan. Your customers include manufacturing and R&D teams that require smooth operation of our facilities.

Importantly, we expect to expand, a key part of this job will be planning, assisting with design, and management of construction of new facilities (labs, clean rooms, manufacturing areas, office space, conference rooms, ...) in both our existing building and a new building. Some of the expected key contributions will include:

  • Monitor, operate, maintain and troubleshoot building automation systems to ensure proper function.
  • Managing construction projects including electrical, HVAC, security, equipment and other general construction activities
  • Oversee scheduled and unscheduled repairs of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing, lighting, electrical, and life safety systems.
  • Ensure all safety and environmental code compliance and accountability preparation activities related to the all-applicable safety equipment and green facility initiatives.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on systems and equipment.
  • Manage security access through badging and key management.
  • Respond to emergency situations as directed or requested by personnel.
  • The procurement of equipment, contractors, analyzing and recommending the most quality and cost-effective approach to support operations.
  • Developing and executing policies, procedures, programs, and budgets to assure effective maintenance of all facilities and equipment.
  • Participate in the preparation of construction capital needs and budgets.
  • Ensure proper environmental services for chemical, biological and other waste management.
  • Develop, document, and implement facilities repairs and maintenance guidelines.
  • Manage the daily operations concerning facility maintenance, equipment maintenance, and landlord/property management interactions.


You are experienced providing a full range of facilities services. You know what is needed to create a new facility and maintain existing facilities. You are a great teammate, collaborative, and can function as partner with the leaders of manufacturing and R&D teams. We are a growing business you must be receptive to change and ready to adapt to changing circumstances. You can deal with a variety of situations requiring independent action, judgement, and initiative. You should have a track record of success and have the following experience and skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a similar role in facility management and within a corporate, customer-centric environment.
  • Effective problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Project management experience. Results and detail oriented and with judgement to understand limitations and know when to escalate the issue.
  • Basic skills in CAD and Microsoft Office applications.
  • General knowledge of various construction trades.
  • Knowledge of the "Occupational Health and Safety Act" and compliance with codes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, both oral and written, with all levels within the company.
  • Ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships.
  • Excellent critical thinking, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Work within an environment that is subject to moderate to high levels of stress in emergency
