BioFire Diagnostics, LLC. is looking for a Global Medical Affairs Scientist I to join our growing team!  

The Global Medical Affairs Scientist I will be a member of the Global Medical Affairs Team dedicated to providing medical leadership and the generation of evidence of the health benefits of the bioMérieux BioFire products and solutions, thereby accelerating appropriate adoption of diagnostics for the benefit of patient care and public health.

The position is focused on providing scientific support to the Global Medical Affairs team in a variety of the functions described below, to be determined based on the manager’s assigned areas of responsibilities. Position may manage clinical research associates or clinical coordinators.

The ideal candidate will have direct experience with laboratory diagnostics, interpretation of infectious disease test results in patient management or a degree in a biologic science relating to infectious diseases.  Previous experience in IVD industry, clinical trials, or HEOR studies would be highly favorable. Must have a proven ability to research, interpret, and write scientific information.  Domestic and limited international travel required.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in the provision of the medical and scientific literature supporting the clinical utility and cost-effectiveness of BioFire’s in vitro diagnostic products
  2. Assist with the organization of the scientific literature (publication, abstracts, and posters) related to the BioFire’s in vitro diagnostic products and keeping related documents up to date
  3. Assist in the development of clinical utility and health economic outcomes research (HEOR) studies for BioFire’s molecular diagnostic products
  4. Assist in collation of existing clinical utility and HEOR studies for assigned products, to identify knowledge gaps and to design studies to address these gaps
  5. Assist in collaboration with key internal stake holders, including Marketing and Market Access, for the development of publication strategy documents and reimbursement dossiers.
  6. Assist in collaboration with commercial teams to support all Panel product activities that have medical content, including but not limited to educational materials, symposiums, brochures and KOL interactions.
  7. Assist in all activities relating to clinical and regulatory affairs to support product launch activities, IVDR
  8. Assist in product launch activities as related to Medical Content and study/publication strategies
  9. Assist in development of Medical training/education activities
  10. Assist in support of and interactions with the entire bioMérieux Medical Affairs teams, both Global and Regional.
  11. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics’ Quality System.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.

May require domestic and international travel up to 20%.

Qualifications

Training and Education:  Bachelor’s degree in a biological science.  Master’s degree or higher is preferred.
Scientist I
Experience:  2+ years of clinical, laboratory or outcomes research experience.
Scientist II

Experience:  5+ years of directly related experience in various areas of laboratory diagnostics, clinical care or IVD for infectious diseases.  Preference given to individuals with a background in medical or clinical affairs.  Experience in the outpatient market and/or respiratory illness is highly desired.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  1. Strong computer skills required including scientific internet searches, word, excel, powerpoint and use of spreadsheets. Skills with database and project management software desirable.
  2. Demonstrated Scientific/Technical writing skills.
  3. This position requires excellent written and oral communication skills.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability work with a wide variety of people (physicians, laboratory staff, marketing representatives, etc.) involved in conducting the clinical and health care outcomes studies.
  5. Excellent organizational skills are essential.
  6. Experience interpreting infectious disease test results in patient management, highly desirable.
