Position Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support, sustain and improve instrument manufacturing in an FDA regulated manufacturing environment. This person will create, monitor and control projects, including budgets and schedules, support existing instrument platforms, product design improvements, cost reductions, and obsolescence solutions.  He/she will implement new product designs and develop assembly tools and fixtures.  This person will maintain the necessary equipment capacity to meet the planned production demand while providing technical expertise for operators, maintenance technicians and other engineers.


Main Accountabilities:

  • Resolve technical problems on the production floor utilizing Engineering analysis.
  • Resolve non-conforming material issues and coordinate corrective measures.
  • Manage project cost and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Review and recommend equipment expenditure generating appropriate CAPEX requests.
  • Evaluate new technological solutions determine, feasibility, implementation and validation requirements
  • Initiate and conducts IQ , OQ , PQ validations for design changes, processes and test equipment as necessary.
  • Identify quality issues and manage resolutions utilizing SPC, DOE, root cause problem solving techniques.
  • Perform Shock, Vibration, Thermal and structural analysis.


Studies/Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering with minimum of 5 years Experience.i Medical Device Engineering is prefered
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8 years experience.  Medical Device Engineering is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Mechanical engineering design processes, tooling, production and assembly methods.
  • Expertise in performing Shock, Vibration, Thermal and Structural analysis.
  • Knowledge of machine shop practices.
  • Experience in product design.
  • Knowledge of various casting & molding processes.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
  • Experienced in time management.
  • Knowledge of computer and CAD systems.
  • Experienced in utilization of project management software.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Knowledge of the FDA ‘s QSR’s.
  • Knowledge of GD&T.
