Position Summary
Business Analyst II or III will partner with the IS Project Management team to identify, plan, implement, test, and maintain Business System Applications solutions.  Participate in design, development, maintenance, and support of complex business applications and solutions to support these key applications and business activities.  The analyst will also be expected to understand how our work relates to business processes, which will allow them to provide value to the organization through high quality customer service to these internal teams and building strong relationships with our stakeholders. 
 

The analyst will apply knowledge of IT principles, business processes and standards, to research, design, configure, develop, test and debug applications. They will evaluate and understand integration dependencies associated with the hardware, software, business requirements, and system characteristics while adhering to strategies, policies, and standards associated with tasks being performed.  The analyst will utilize a software design tool, such as Figma, to create workflows to help customers and software teams understand user requests.  

The analyst will work on several projects simultaneously and need to understand business processes through all applications to complete projects.  They will interact with business and technical users through all levels of the organization. Effective time management, analytical thinking, organizational skills, strong documentation and the ability to communicate effectively will all be important in this role. Also, the analyst will work as part of a team.  They will utilize effective time management, analytical thinking skills, organization skills, and the ability to communicate effectively to contribute to the success of the team. To excel in this role, the analyst should have a natural analytical way of thinking and be able to explain difficult concepts to non-technical users.  


Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:  

  1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMerieux's Quality System.
  2. Understand bioMerieux’s technical and scientific mission. Understand technical and functional components of the company products. 
  3. Participate in collaboration efforts with various internal teams, providing excellent ongoing customer service. 
  4. Work in an Agile environment by participating in all applicable phases of project and software development life cycles. 
  5. Create recommendations and strategic plans based on business needs and data. 
  6. Participate in all phases of the project life cycle and SDLC process. 
  7. Partner with the business by gaining an understanding of their needs and contribute to solutions that meet their goals/objectives. 
  8. Gather requirements and prepare detailed technical documentation for software releases. (e.g. technical specifications, V&V forms, etc.) 
  9. Ability to create and maintain UI/UX diagrams to provide better understanding of requirements to both users and software team. (Preferably using Figma) 
  10. Provide excellent ongoing customer service and adhere to our internal and external service level agreements. 
  11. Follow standards for change control and configuration management with a focus on communication to key stakeholders. 
  12. Work with the Software Project Manager and team to identify risks to project deliverables and recommend mitigation strategy as needed. Develop alternative solutions as required. 
  13. Support user adoption efforts related to new applications, change management and business process flow. 
  14. Effectively communicate ideas and facilitate cross-functional meetings as needed. 
  15. Complete work activities on time with some supervision. 
  16. Continually update technical knowledge and skills. 
  17. Other duties as assigned. 
  18. Write and maintain project documents. 
  19. Ensure adherence to the software release process. 
  20. Design software features to ensure software quality, cost, and timeline. 
  21. Determine risks of software modifications to overall software quality. 


Training and Education: (Minimum education and/or training requirements for this position, i.e., high school diploma, college degree, certification.) 

BS degree in computer science, IS, IT or related field or equivalent experience.


Experience:  (Minimum time and type of experience required for this position.) 

Business Analyst II Requires at least two years of relevant experience 

Business Analyst III Requires at least five years of relevant experience 


Skills:   (Special skills required, e.g., negotiation, technical writing, statistical evaluation.) 

  • Understanding of best practices in software development. 
  • Attention to detail, with emphasis on accuracy and completeness. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively. 
  • Ability to create and maintain workflow diagrams using an interface design tool, preferably Figma. 
  • Ability to complete objectives with moderate supervision. 
  • Experience in customer services with a high record of customer satisfaction. 
  • Experience in SDLC and quality assurance processes. 
  • Experience working with applications like SAP, Salesforce, and Jira a plus. 
  • Orientation for detail work product, with emphasis on accuracy and completeness. 
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite and flow chart software. 
  • Must demonstrate ability to complete objectives with little supervision.
