Associate Director - Supply Chain

The Company

The world is facing a medical crisis, bacteria are increasingly evolving resistance to even our strongest antibiotics. The problem is already very real and immediate; for example, bloodstream infection leading to sepsis is now responsible for more than half of all deaths in hospitals and is the most expensive condition treated in hospitals. Sepsis mortality rate increases >6% every hour without effective antibiotic treatment. Yet, despite the life and death urgency, and healthcare cost impacts, current methodologies require 3 days to determine the correct antibiotic.

Specific Diagnostics has developed a breakthrough solution to rapidly determine the effective antibiotic treatment for bloodstream and other acute infections. Used for bloodstream infection Specific’s solution provides results 2 days sooner (1 day vs 3 days).

The Job

  1. Leads the team, manages and monitors team's workload and performance; defines objectives, methods and skills needed, complies with all applicable regulations; recruits, trains and develops team. Drives budget and resources for defined area of responsibility.
  2. Provides inputs for mid/long range plan & strategy building
  3. Drives Supply Chain transformation projects in coordination with Corporate Supply Chain and the Site.
  1. Provide leadership for buyer, planner and logistics teams to assure supply meets internal and external demand.
  2. Facilitate demand and supply planning and ensure gaps between demand and supply are clearly understood and communicated, and appropriate actions are in place to resolve.
  3. Develop and execute inventory management strategies that support growth, minimize risk of excess and/or obsolete finished goods and raw materials.
  4. Selection of vendors and establish metrics to monitor supplier performance.
  5. Negotiating year over year pricing and inventory improvement agreements
  6. Strong customer service focus to enhance satisfaction, demonstrate judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers or suppliers


Knowledge Skills and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree required in Business/Material Management/Purchasing/SC, Masters preferred
  2. Requires a minimum of 7 years of related experience preferably in a medical manufacturing environment, with people management experience
  3. Must have working knowledge of ISO, CGMP and MRP manufacturing principles.
  4. Has ERP experience and demonstrated results in materials shortage management and inventory control. NetSuite experience is preferred.
  5. Solid understanding of financial and business analysis
  6. Ability to lead negotiation and execution of contracts with vendors and other supply chain partners
  7. Experience in worldwide sourcing and logistics
  8. Project management and ability to develop strong support for change with all levels of internal and external organizations
  9. Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills
  10. Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Package.
