Description:

This is a Software Testing position that is well suited by someone with a microbiology and/or clinical background.  As a member of a collaborative, cross-functional software-development team, the Software Verification Tester will design and execute manual and automated software-verification tests, detect and analyze defect data, and generate/maintain documentation of all test efforts in order to drive VITEK 2 application updates that help hospitals determine the correct antibiotics to treat millions of infected patients each year.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop software-verification test cases for both manual and automated tests and document the results
  • Review design-input documentation for potential impact to existing breakpoint and VITEK bioART rules
  • Develop and execute equivalency tests to verify ID/AST analyses perform as intended
  • Work with business analysts, software developers, software testers, and other microbiologists to analyze feature requirements and user stories to develop effective specifications and tests
  • Be part of a highly collaborative, cross-functional team using cutting-edge Agile methodologies
  • Support verification of selected anomaly fixes, including assisting with validation-testing activities and field-related support as needed
  • Assist with development and summary of key testing metrics
  • Assist Test Leader with task estimation and planning of work as needed
  • Train on assigned procedures relevant to daily work
  • Focus on continuous improvement of test processes and software quality
  • Stay informed on industry trends in software testing

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related scientific discipline (e.g. Biology, Biomedical Engineering, etc.) or similar disciplines, and/or equivalent professional experience
  • 1+ years of professional experience in software testing, verification, or validation
  • Experience in the use and operation of the bioMérieux VITEK 2 suite of lab instruments (VITEK 2 Compact, VITEK 2 XL) in a clinical environment
  • Strong teamwork skills

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in an ISO/FDA regulated environment as a member of a product-development organization (medical-device or biotech industry) preferred
  • Experience with ATDD (Acceptance Test Driven Development) and/or BDD (Behavior Driven Development) methodologies
