Position Summary:

Institut Mérieux, is a family holding company committing its experience in industrial biology to serve medicine and public health across the globe. To fight against infectious diseases and cancers, Institut Mérieux imagines and develops new approaches in the fields of diagnostics, immunotherapy, food safety and nutrition.


Its three bio-industrial companies: bioMérieux, Transgene and Mérieux NutriSciences, working closely with its entities devoted to innovation, such as ABL Inc. and Mérieux Développement, have enabled major advances in medicine and public health.


Mérieux Université is the group’s internal university.  A privileged space for innovation and collaboration, imbued with the Institute's humanist and entrepreneurial culture, the Université's vocation is to support the professional development of the organization’s leadership and individual contributor employees.


The Université designs, pilots and runs, for all the entities of the organization, leadership and development programs. Our programs include sequential leadership “laddered” programs, open enrollment behavioral skills  development classes, a substantial digital offering, and cross-functional technical “Academies”.   Our team also offers team performance and leader interventions such as individual and team coaching, 360 degree feedback, organizational development, assessments, and other team interventions. 


Mérieux Université headquarters is located in Lyon, France.  This role will be located/part with a team of coaches/trainers/facilitators based out of Salt Lake City, UT.  Our direct clients will span Canada, multiple locations across the US (Durham NC., St. Louis, MS, Chicago, IL, Baltimore MD,), and eight countries in Latin America (LATAM).  Our very close strategic partners global Learning and Development, Human Resources,


The Université is organized in three ‘functional divisions’ : Organization Effectiveness & Team Performance / Global Training / Digital Learning Strategy.  We are looking for this person to be a  leadership and employee trainer/facilitator, as well as involved in team performance and leader coaching responsibilities.


Mérieux Université is a team of nearly 25 people, four of whom are based in the United States. Passionate and committed, they have complementary teaching skills and business expertise. Mérieux Université’s headquarters is located in Tassin La Demi-Lune (Montcelard site) and Mérieux Université - Americas is based in Salt Lake City, Utah in the US



Primary Duties:

This role will be located in Salt Lake City (preferred), Durham N.C., or St. Louis MO, and will report directly to the Director, Merieux Universite- Americas . This person will often work across regions, and across Institut Merieux divisions/companies.


In close cooperation with our Learning &Development partners of the Institut Mérieux entities, you will:

   . Work in partnership with our learning team, our Learning and Development Center Of Excellence (COE), and global HR teams to identify and address development requirements for leadership and individual contributors .

   . Develop, schedule, and deliver behavioral-based leadership development courses via open enrollment calendars, as part of our progressive leadership programs, and in support of our functional academies.

. Partner with the global corporate university within Mérieux Université to understand and continuously adjust capabilities needed for global programs.

. Provide formal client coaching services to leadership located across the Americas (North America, Latin America, and Canada).

. Be responsible to client/business relationship management to support the development and deployment of organization and team consulting services.

   . Consult and collaborate with others across our global footprint who conduct training in the organization (i.e. embedded training teams) to coordinate activities and ensure maximum use of available resources.  Partner with, or manage, external providers as appropriate.

   . Some traveling required



Skills & Experience:

  • Expert Facilitator and Trainer (In-classroom and virtual)
  • experience in Learning & Development and/or Training, Organizational Development, Human Resources, or Executive and Leader Coaching
  • Ideally certified in one or more of the following: DDI Course Facilitator;  DDI Leadership Mirror (360), Center for Leadership Studies Situational Leadership, TTI (DiSC &/or EQ), Crucial Conversations. Human Element, Project Management
  • Comfortable and interested in working across multiple countries/cultures
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to deliver training and facilitation to a diverse audience, from executive level leaders to individual contributors.


Preferred Competencies/Abilities and Experience

  • Global experience/perspective
  • Expertise in Organizational Effectiveness and Team Development consulting and methodologies important
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (primary need), and also Portuguese (secondary need). If you are bilingual, you will facilitate and coach in both English and Spanish or Portuguese
  • Experience with Course Design (Classroom and/or virtual) is desirable
  • Previous team leadership or management experience
