Description:

The Application and Instrument Support Engineer will provide extraordinary support for multiple internal R&D departments responsible for creating innovate IVD solutions.

  • Collaborate with R&D Microbiologists and Business Representatives across the organization to develop novel systems for medical device data analysis
  • Provide Instrument Support for initial setup and configuration in preparation for instrument data collection (Instrument Configuration, Networking, VPN(Certificates/Credentials))
  • Provide Application Support for a broad range of Thick-Client, Web/Cloud-based applications in support of IVD devices:
    • Account Creation
    • Customer Support Requests
    • Application Installation
    • Diagnostics/Troubleshooting/Investigations
    • Data/Database Analysis
    • User Training
    • Application Testing
    • ad hoc queries
  • Work as a part of the Software Development Teams to design and develop complex applications using state-of-the-art technologies
  • Partner with application developers/architects and infrastructure architects to define scalable future state architecture based on business strategy
  • Collaborate effectively within a cross-functional organization to prioritize, scope and communicate progress of deliverables
  • Document deliverables compliant with established company design control and regulatory statutes

 

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or related scientific discipline, similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.

 

  • 2+ years’ experience Windows Admin – (e.g. Windows 7, Windows 10, Windows Server, DOS and Command Prompt Commands, PowerShell, Services, Task Manager, etc.)
  • 2+ years’ experience Unix Admin (AIX, Linux)  – (e.g. smit, cron, shell programming (c, korn, bourne), scripting (perl, awk/sed), Editors (vi, emacs), terminal emulators (PuTTY, MobaXterm, User Account Creation, Administration Rights/Permissions]
  • 2+ years’ experience with relational database design, development, and support experience (e.g. Oracle, postgreSQL, SQL Server, SQL, PL/SQL, SQL Developer, SQL Developer Data Modeler, Oracle Designer, Oracle Pro-C, T-SQL, Access, ODBC, ETL tools, and database utilities)
  • 2+ years’ experience with networking  (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, FTP (Command Line, Filezilla), Network Commands (ping, ipconfig, nslookup, etc.))
  • 2+ years’ experience with Windows Security (e.g. Symantec SEP, Windows Defender, Windows Security And Firewall, Active Directory (AD), etc.)
  • Experience with software version control tools. (e.g. Git/GitLab, Bitbucket, Make, Perforce, SVN, Artifactory)
  • Ability and experience working with large, complex, normalized relational data models is required.
  • An understanding of agile software development (e.g. SCRUM, TDD) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Enthusiastic and proactive contributor and delivers high quality results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of the team.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud technology experience - AWS (RDS, Redshift, Dynamo, Athena, Glue, etc.)
  • 2+ years’ experience with at least some of the following programming languages (e.g. C/C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Angular, HTML, CSS, SAS)
  • ISO/FDA regulated environment as a member of a product development organization (medical device or biotech industry).
  • Deep knowledge of bioMérieux IVD devices and instrument software (VITEK, VITEK EVO, VITEK MS, BacT/ALERT, Virtuo, VITEK MS)
  • Experience working in a clinical or industry (food, veterinary, pharma, cosmetics) laboratory, especially with bioMerieux products.
