Global Medical Affairs Scientist (Microbiology)

bioMérieux, Inc. (St. Louis or Durham)

 

The Global Medical Affairs Scientist contributes within the product development life cycle of bioMerieux microbiology products (organism identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing).  Additional responsibilities include review of the medical literature to establish/maintain a database of publications on bioMérieux microbiology products. This position reports to the Director of Global Medical Affairs for Microbiology.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Keeps abreast of scientific literature and recent developments in the fields of clinical microbiology, in vitro diagnostics, and laboratory methods
  • Synthesizes information from publications to establish a searchable database of evidence and identify gaps for the clinical microbiology portfolio
  • Drafts medical affairs content for product development documents
  • Contributes to Product Development and Life Cycle Management processes including inputs to R&D development, clinical trials and post-market vigilance activities.
  • Supports the Peri- & Post-launch Study (PPLS) program as requested
  • Communicates effectively with team members and internal stakeholders
  • Anticipates and proactively mitigates challenges and risks to timely completion of documents
  • Support the execution of Scientific Advisory Boards

 

Required Education, Experience & Skills

  • Advanced Degree (e.g. MS, PhD, or equivalent) with relevant experience in clinical laboratory operations, healthcare, or diagnostics industry
  • 1-5 years of relevant experience in the areas of clinical microbiology or infectious diseases preferred.
  • Proficient in writing medical content and scientific papers
  • Familiar with microbiology laboratory test methods, regulatory standards, and practice guidelines
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication (oral and written), presentation, and project management skills
  • Team player
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed global environment
  • Strong prioritization and decision-making skills
  • Fluent in English

 

Travel: 5-10% (domestic and international)

 

Location: St. Louis (MO) or Durham (NC)
