Position Summary:

The Automation Technician is responsible for the technical support of bioMérieux Manufacturing PLCs and HMIs, Vision Systems, and Robots to maintain business continuity by managing activities from the beginning to successful completion and implementation. The position is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations and deliverables to support business goals in collaboration with management and key stakeholders.

 

This is a specialized position that specifically requires the troubleshooting of: Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix and SLC-500 PLCs, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View ME HMIs, Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk View SE SCADA Systems, and various sensors/instruments.

 

The Automation Technician performs diagnostics on automation equipment and executes repairs as needed following site guidelines and processes and will implement small automation modifications to improve safety, product quality, and/or reduce cost.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot instruments such as motion sensors, pressure/temperature sensors, process analyzers.
  • Provide support as a subject matter expert to maintain automation systems in a compliant manner and fit for intended use state.
  • Assist in small projects and make independent decisions on automation problems.
  • Participate in testing and startup of Automation Systems.
  • This is an off-shift position that requires all work to be done during non-standard work hours.

 

Skills, Studies, and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with 3 years of relevant experience or High School Diploma with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • 2 years’ hands on experience of troubleshooting and programming of PLCs and HMIs preferred. 
  • Work Experience in a Manufacturing Environment desired.
  • cGMP, validation and FDA industry experience desired.
  • Strong ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
