Position Summary:

Responsible for supporting and sustaining manufacturing for in vitro diagnostic instruments, used in microbiology laboratories.  Co-op students will work alongside Instrument Manufacturing engineers to help execute testing for new designs, investigate defects in material received from vendors, troubleshoot general production issues associated with assembly, test, and/or process controls and assist with new product transfer to manufacturing.

 

Primary Duties:

  • Obtain basic knowledge related to medical instrument manufacturing design, support, and testing, while working in an FDA regulated industry.
  • Learn to create documentation such as technical reports, meeting notes, and other technical communications.
  • Learn to identify issues and use problem solving tools to provide next steps to a successful resolution to manufacturing or process problems.
  • Expected to have general Engineering knowledge, including the use of standard engineering tools and test equipment, to have general computer applications competencies (word processing, spreadsheets, and power point), and have strong oral and written communication skills.

 

Studies and Experience:

  • Actively pursuing a BSME, BSBME, or BSEE degree.  0 to 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Program requirements: Students currently enrolled in a degree program at a recognized institution of higher learning with a minimum of 3.0 GPA or above.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Knowledge of CAD tools (Altium, Unigraphics, Creo, or Solidworks)
  • Ability to work in teams
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal)
