The position is in the Scientific & Innovation Intelligence (S2I) team as part of the Intellectual Property Department, The team is engaged in a wide variety of activities regarding access to scientific, medical and patent information and contributes to the strategic and competitive watch. The Science and Patent Information Analyst position is an integral part of that environment where practicality, communication and collegiality are necessary components.

 

Core Responsibilities:

The Science and Patent Information Analyst position will report to the Senior Director, and will be expected to respond to requests for scientific information from internal clients, in the form of ad hoc prior art searches (scientific publications), technology mapping and watch activities on technologies and competition (patents, scientific publications and web information). Experience in patent searches and watch is also requested. The analyst will master all aspects of information technology, including watch tools functionalities and databases querying. This is role is deal for someone with 5 to 12 years of experience, preferably obtained from in-house practice through various jobs.

 

  • Be a point of contact of a strategic field (e.g. Molecular Diagnostics) in terms of scientific information, including patent.
  • Ensure links with the various partners (e.g. R&D, Marketing, Business Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial Operations, patent team) in order to keep abreast of strategic issues, understand the needs and be able to address them.
  • Conduct document searches based on internal clients’ requests, that are as comprehensive as possible. Select, analyze and present relevant information. Ensure searches follow-up and traceability.
  • Carry out scientific and patent watch in topics of interest, including monitoring of company's products. Produce summaries on specific topics according to the needs of internal clients.
  • Carry out scientific publications and/or patent mapping.
  • Contribute to the evolution and modernization of information tools (including AI tools) and services in line with the global strategy and the company's needs.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree, ideally Master's degree or Ph.D in biology, preferably in molecular biology and open to other scientific fields.
  • Degree in Information Technology, including watch tools use, scientific literature and patent database querying, web crawling: scientific literature databases (i.e. PubMed, Web of Science, Embase), Patent literature databases (i.e. PatBase, Questel Intelligence), sequences database (Genomequest)
  • Exposure to Post-Market Surveillance process is a plus.
  • Minimum 5 years’, ideally 7 years’ experience, in scientific literature review and patent literature analysis, in technology mapping, competitive and strategic watch and digestion.
  • Exposure to complex watch topics combining science, business and competition.
  • Exposure to AI tool usage for literature review.
  • Basic knowledges in Intellectual Property is a plus.
  • Ideally industry experience in the life sciences industry, ideally in the in vitro diagnostics industry.
  • Fluency in English and fluency in French would be preferred.
