We are seeking a talented firmware engineering intern to help bring to market a next generation molecular diagnostic solution to improve the health of patients and improve global public health. We are looking for an individual with a passion for technology and experience developing complex mechatronic systems. You will be joining the R&D engineering team, working together to transform innovative ideas into life changing products.

 

Primary Duties

  • Testing firmware solutions
  • Troubleshooting firmware solutions
  • Developing firmware solutions
  • Participate in code reviews and technical reviews.
  • Firmware documentation

 

Training/Education

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar degree. Completion of at least sophomore year is preferred but not required.

 

Experience

  • Engineering experience is preferred but not required. 
  • Candidates will be expected to have general engineering knowledge including the use of standard engineering tools and laboratory test equipment, understanding of general laboratory practices, general computer applications competencies(word processing, spreadsheet, ect), and strong oral and written communication skills.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Preferred but not required:

  • Familiarity with microcontrollers and low-level firmware that interacts with hardware
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics and datasheets
  • Familiarity with microcontroller peripherals such as PWM, ADC, DAC, timers, and GPIOs
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, etc
  • Familiarity in C/C++
  • Familiarity with Real-Time Operating Systems
  • Familiarity with IDE’s, programmers, and general debug tools
  • Familiarity with version control systems e.g. Git
