Product Marketing Manager-Microbiology AST Testing

The  Product Marketing Manager, Automated Antibiotic Susceptibility role within our US Clinical Marketing team is responsible for managing a new product with disruptive technology in the area of rapid microbiology antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST). This role manages all aspects of the product launch process through the development and execution of the go-to-market plan. This position plays a lead role in the creation of marketing objectives, strategies, and tactics and holds primary responsibility for tactical execution in support of marketing objectives. This marketing role works closely with the other microbiology Product Managers and broad cross-functional teams including molecular and immunoassay franchises, field sales, customer support, market research, regulatory, quality, medical affairs and global marketing to promote end-to-end patient testing in the hospital market. This marketing role works directly with Scientific Affairs in creating educational materials to educate Infectious Disease physicians and ID Pharmacists.

 

Primary Duties

 

Main Accountabilities:

Executes:

  • Develops US Marketing Plan
  • Marketing tactics and programs
  • Sales and marketing training
  • Tradeshows and promotional events
  • Scientific and clinical advisory board meetings
  • Works with scientific affairs to develop and execute clinical studies including marketing evaluation programs (MEP)

 

Develops with minimal supervision:

  • Launch strategies, brand objectives, and tactics
  • Messaging strategy
  • Sales tools
  • Sales programs
  • Product collateral
  • Pricing strategy

Monitors and generates actionable insights into:

 

  • Competition
  • Market trends
  • Sales performance and trends in assigned business area
  • Pricing effectiveness
  • Customer behaviors, beliefs, and attitudes
  • Market opportunities
  • Effectiveness of marketing strategies and tactics
  • Market research and business intelligence needs
  • Clinical data gaps

 

Interfaces and cross-collaborates closely with and/or manages:

  • Customers
  • Sales force and field employees
  • Marketing Communications, Supply Chain, Legal, Quality personnel
  • KOLs, including KOL development
  • 3rd party vendors
  • Company executive management

 

Training and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology or related biological sciences; MT(ASCP)/CLS, and MBA are highly preferred.

 

Experience 

  • 5+ years (Product Marketing Manager), 6+ years (Senior Product Marketing Manager) of successful product management experience in the area of Microbiology/AST testing, preferably with diagnostics or medical products.
  • 5+ years’ experience managing IVD instruments and software used in clinical laboratories
  • 5+ years’ experience in a senior role managing other core IVD laboratory products
  • Sales experience highly preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilites

  • Working knowledge of marketing in a regulated clinical diagnostics environment in the field of infectious disease.
  • Knowledge of microbiology is required, specifically in the area of ID/AST testing.
  • Clinical laboratory experience is not required but highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of molecular biology and immunology is highly desired, but not a requirement.
  • Performs work under minimum supervision.
  • Handles basic issues and problems, and refers some complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Interacts and presents technical information to audience with various levels of scientific experience.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office; PowerPoint, Word and Excel, and contact management databases.
  • Fluent in English.
