Position Summary

The Sr. Director of Site Supply Chain is responsible to establish and execute supply chain business strategy through directing the activities of the supply chain division, which facilitates achievement of the company’s goals and objectives.  The Supply Chain Division includes MRP, master scheduling, manufacturing planning, warehouse, and distribution. 

Overall responsibility is to ensure an uninterrupted and high-quality supply of materials to internal and external customers with little impact to cost.

Primary scope is Salt Lake City Supply Chain and must partner with North America and Global Supply Chain teams to develop and/or apply comprehensive solutions.

 

Primary Duties

  1. Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards.
  2. Establishes operations standards for procurement, manufacturing planning, logistics and distribution, cost control and safety.
  3. Provides MRP output for Procurement to execute upon.
  4. Creates new site supply chain structure within the SLC site and integrates previously separate departments into a new team structure.
  5. Recommends and implements strategic changes in supply chain operation strategy.
  6. Identifies new roles and responsibilities and procedures within the organization to improve operational effectiveness, data management, and transactional accuracy of inventory.
  7. Establishes supply chain policies in the areas of materials management, shipping and receiving, safety, customer service and performance measures.
  8. Directs implementation and execution of supply chain policies and practices throughout the organization.
  9. Facilitates improvements and better working relationships by providing Provides direction leadership offer problem resolution.
  10. Builds a strong relationship with the Commercial operation and group and the global supply chain groups, lead the S&OP processes (Sales and Operation Processes) on behalf of the site.
  11. Oversees supply chain operations budget to ensure compliance with organizational expenditure requirements.
  12. Ensures compliance with state, and federal, and international customs for storage and transport regulations.
  13. Monitor and maintain departmental personnel meet commitments / deadlines. Lead team members by establishing performance criteria, providing training and resources, giving regular coaching, feedback, and guidance. Ensures an engaged and skilled workforce through active listening and communication.

 

Supplemental Data

This leader will be responsible for integrating separate departments into a new team structure. Additionally, this leader will identify new roles and responsibilities and new procedures required to improve operational effectiveness, data accuracy, and inventory transactions. Responsible for approximately >250 employees supporting four distinct manufacturing operations (reagents, instruments, service, materials management). Total combined value of inventory is >50 million U.S. dollars. A significant amount of growth is expected for this product line over the next 5 years and may require replication of manufacturing at new sites. This leader will be expected to collaborate closely with new sites in transition plans and shared production output.

 

Training and Education

Requires a bachelor’s degree, 10 years’ experience in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution, or supply chain and a minimum of 5 years leading logistics teams in a relevant industry (distribution, logistics, planning, procurement, customer service).

APICs—CLTD, CPIM, and CSCP certification preferred.

 

Experience

  1. Experience with SAP strongly preferred or strong experience in other ERP system.
  2. Requires extensive knowledge of complex planning and scheduling in a high growth, transitional manufacturing environment.
  3. Requires experience in and demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  4. Experience in Logistics, Transportation, and Distribution
  5. Experience in Supply Chain

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Must possess advanced knowledge of industrial techniques, process improvement, materials management, and production scheduling.
  2. The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  3. Strong customer orientation and commitment to company values.
  4. Must have proven success in change management, continuous improvement, proactivity, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  5. International business skills.
  6. Must possess advanced computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Package and ERP.
