Description
The SQL Intern Programmer contributes within the product development life cycle of bioMérieux’s molecular products. The Intern's role in the department includes supporting studies that assess diagnostic device performance, retrospective database studies, meta-analyses, and human and economic outcomes research (HEOR). This position reports to the Director of Global Medical Affairs for Molecular and Digital Solutions.
Responsibilities
Develops strategy to assemble data sets that accurately reflect study cohort inclusion criteria in retrospective database studies
Extracts data from databases using SQL
Cleans and prepares data for statistical analysis
Assists with data formatting and monitoring of results from on-going laboratory studies
Assists with data formatting and statistical analysis in HEOR and meta-analysis studies
Provides data analysis, statistical modeling, and data visualizations to communicate results to the team
Interprets results and contributes to manuscripts intended for peer-reviewed publication
Works with team scientists (generally microbiologists and pharmacists) to incorporate current performance standards related to quantifying the performance of our diagnostic devices
Supports the Peri- & Post- product Launch Study (PPLS) program as requested
Communicates effectively with team members and internal stakeholders
Anticipates and proactively mitigates challenges and risks to timely completion of documents
Required Education, Experience & Skills
Bachelor’s Degree or degree in progress in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Epidemiology or similar degree with a primary focus on quantitative science
Expertise with SQL database programming and data cleaning is required
1-2 years experience working with real-world data preferred
Expertise with R language programming is preferred
Expertise with patient outcomes research, meta-analysis, and in vitro diagnostics device studies is preferred
Excellent practices in documentation, commenting, and validation of code
Experience with Big Data, Amazon Web Services skills is preferred
Experience with Tableau, R Shiny, or other business-intelligence platforms is preferred
Experience with software development and version control using Git is preferred
Ability to contribute to writing statistical methods and results sections for scientific papers; authorship in peer-reviewed scientific publications is preferred
Excellent interpersonal, analytical, communication (oral and written), presentation, and project management skills
Problem-solving mindset
Team player
Ability to work in a highly matrixed global environment
Strong prioritization and decision-making skills
Fluent in English
