Engineering Technician I

Description

This engineering technician works within a project team – generally under the leadership of a more experienced individual (e.g. engineers and/or project managers). This engineering technician uses experience and education to perform the types of technician activities related to instrument repair and any other expertise that might be held by this particular individual. This engineering technician is expected to work and communicate well with other team members and leadership as assigned in order to meet the goals of the project, the department, and the company.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics’ Quality System.
  2. General: uses experience and education to perform the types of engineering activities which are generally considered within the realm of an engineering technician.
  3. Description: Uses engineering concepts, company SOPs/WIDs, department SOPs/WIDs to assist in a variety of defined technical tasks.
  4. Works on: problems of moderate scope and complexity. Generally works on a team with engineers.
  5. Influence: receives moderate oversight from engineers of all levels, not eligible to be a discipline lead on a project, does not provide mentoring for other engineers, and receives mentoring from engineers.
  6. Compliance: Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics Quality System.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Training and Education

Associates degree in engineering or other technical discipline

Experience

5 years’ experience in service and repair of mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems. Experience working and problem solving in small teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Must be proficient in Office, and able to learn other programs as necessary.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs.
