The ideal candidate will be located in Washington, D.C.   

As the Public and Government Affairs Director at bioMérieux, you will be a pivotal member of our team, responsible for executing policymaker engagement at all levels of government. Your role will involve engagement with policymakers and government organizations, overseeing external consultants, and leading events and outreach efforts with stakeholders. Throughout your responsibilities, you will maintain an unwavering commitment to compliance and integrity.     

    

Primary Duties:    

  1. With the VP Government Affairs, develop and execute comprehensive government affairs strategies at the Federal level.    

  2. Establish and maintain relationships with policymakers across different government offices.     

  3. Advocate for policies that advance public health through diagnostics, in alignment with the company's mission and objectives.     

  4. Identify, map, and prioritize key government offices and relevant stakeholders.     

  5. Represent the Company’s interests in industry conferences, panels and policy discussions related to infectious disease diagnostics, market access and government affairs.     

  6. Provide valuable feedback and insights to the Government Affairs team regarding legislative and regulatory developments.     

  7. Collaborate with internal teams to align government affairs efforts with company objectives and to deliver targeted outreach.      

  8. Oversee external lobbyists and ensure their activities align with the company's government affairs strategies.     

  9. Lead the planning and execution of events and outreach activities aimed at engaging stakeholders.     

  10. Ensure all activities are conducted with a high level of integrity and compliance and are fully compliant with relevant laws, regulations and company standards of business conduct and ethics.     

    

    

Training and Education:    

BS/BA degree in Political Science, Life Sciences, Law, Economics or Business.  Advanced degree preferred (e.g., MBA, MPH).     

    

Experience:    

  • 10 years of progressively responsible experience in government affairs, or other relevant senior leadership roles in government or consulting agencies. 
    
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of the U.S. healthcare and regulatory landscape. 
    
  • Proven track record in building relationships with government officials and advocating for policy changes

    

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:    

  • Exceptional communication skills: equally effective in front of field teams as in front of the senior leadership team and governmental officials. 
    
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of the U.S. healthcare system, regulatory landscape, and government affairs. 
    
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment with multiple decision-makers and stakeholders. 
    
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment 
    
  • Possess the highest standards of ethics and integrity.
