Description

Position Summary:

The Engineering Technician II (Eng. Tech II) is responsible for instrumentation production line support, focusing primarily on instrument troubleshooting and engineering project work. As such, an Eng. Tech II is expected to apply root cause investigation techniques to solve production and engineering problems and professionally document results. The Eng. Tech II works within a manufacturing engineering support team generally under the leadership of more experienced individuals (e.g. engineers and/or managers). The Eng. Tech II reports to the Engineering Line Support Manager and interacts with other technicians, engineers, and leadership and performs work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BFDXs Quality System. This engineering technician is expected to work and communicate professionally with other team members and leadership as assigned in order to meet the goals of the instrumentation department and bioMerieux company.
Primary Duties:
  • Responds professionally and efficiently to production needs/requests.
  • Troubleshoots diagnostic instruments to identify root cause issues related to product and process and performs instrument repairs. (Primary Responsibility)
  • Writes and updates documents including but not limited to work instructions, nonconformance records, technical reports, reworks, and floor log tickets.
  • Works on problems of moderate scope and complexity with engineers and other technicians to support engineering projects.
  • Supports calibration and preventative maintenance activities to ensure tools, fixtures, and equipment are compliant to our quality system and meet the needs of production.
  • Support/Ownership of continuous improvement initiatives including Lean, VSM, Kaizen, etc.
  • Performs all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of bioMerieux Diagnostics Quality System.

Qualifications and Experience:

High School diploma; Associate degree in a scientific/technical discipline a strong plus. Minimum of 2 years' experience in related field, including performance consistent with said experience.
