Description

Position Summary:

This position is part of the Health, Safety, Environment and Security (HSE) leadership team. Under the direction of the Senior Manager of HSE, the HSE Security Supervisor creates, plans, implements, and promotes the Life Safety and Site Security policies and procedures. Directly supervises the security supervisors and overall manages the contract security services in their duties to protect company assets and employees relative to theft, assault, fire, plus other security and facilities issues. This position works closely with the Crisis Management coordinator in activities relative to emergency response initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local Safety and Environment regulations (ISO 14001 / 45001), bioMérieux Global HSE policies, and industry best practices to protect team members, visitors, and company property.
  • Support all team members and processes at the bioMérieux, Inc. Durham sites, including Rodolphe Manufacturing with R&D and Commercial Operations.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of the Quality Management System.
  • Provides guidance and direction in the areas of life safety, physical security, emergency preparedness, and emergency response.
  • Responsible for evaluating, managing, improving, revising, and/or developing all aspects of the life safety and security programs, protocols, and activities to reduce risk and protect company assets, visitors and team members.
  • Directly manage the site security supervisor(s) and indirectly the security technicians at two locations including orientation, onboarding, schedules, preparation, and response activities.
  • Responsible for managing contract security services to effectively use resources and time to promote security and emergency response initiatives.
  • Works closely with the Crisis Management coordinator in the efforts across multiple business functions at two locations to include monthly, quarterly and annual training in emergency response.
  • Conducts security risk assessments, post event assessments, and security related incident investigations.
  • Ensure team members complete timely investigations of security incidence and identify and implement corrective actions to mitigate a re-occurrence.
  • Manage the company badge access control system, parking permit program, and the security camera surveillance system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Develop and coordinate emergency plans and response procedures, including ownership of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) for a 24/7 operation.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with HSE leaders in North American and Global HSE teams.
  • Manage the site security program, on-site service supplier authorization, badge access procedures, routine safety/security walks, and safety equipment inspections.
    • This position will be managing an unarmed contract security service at two locations in and around Durham, NC.

    • Maintain and execute project schedules efficiently to meet timelines and objectives.

    • Foster teamwork by modeling positive attitudes, ownership of tasks/projects, and contributing to skill development in others.
    • Ensure compliance with cGMP documentation requirements in accordance with Quality Policies.

Education, Skills, & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required with a minimum of 3 years of experience in corporate security, emergency management or law enforcement is required.
    • Associate degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in corporate security, emergency management or law enforcement also accepted
    • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 1 year of experience in corporate security, emergency management or law enforcement also accepted
      • Degree in Criminal Justice, Health, Safety, Environmental Science or Policy and/or an Engineering related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of team leadership experience.
  • Experience within an ISO 14001 / 45001 certified organization preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of US compliance regulations including DOT/OSHA/EPA/NFPA preferred.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Security Professional (CSP), or Certified Protection Officer (CPO) certification preferred.
