Security Technician - Weekend/Days

Description

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics’ Quality System.
  2. Observe for signs of crime and suspicious activities and report to the proper company departments.
  3. Secure premises by completing patrols internal and external to the buildings and document activities in a written log and/or electronic application due at the conclusion of each shift. The patrols will include building access points, general grounds, and may include monitoring surveillance equipment.
  4. Complete and submits shift reports by recording observations, information, and surveillance activities. The shift report is due at the conclusion of each shift.
  5. Immediately respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to employees and site visitors.
  6. Obtain certification in First Aid/CPR/AED and be prepared to render aid to the level of your training.
  7. Help clear and put down ice melt to maintain clear stairs, and walking paths after a snowfall.
  8. Escort employees at their request to vehicles at all hours
  9. Assist facilities and HSE teams with miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

  1. Contact Supervisor in emergencies or with unusual situations.
  2. Contact campus or SLC Police for support.
  3. May work nights, swing shift and weekends.
  4. Must be capable of working alone and without direct supervision.
  5. Work outside patrolling day and night.
  6. Not armed.
  7. Will be required to obtain state certification as an unarmed security guard.
  8. May be assigned to work at multiple locations in the Salt Lake Valley.
Qualifications
Training and Education
Minimum education and/or training requirements for this position (i.e., high school diploma, college degree, and/or certification).
  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Unarmed Security Guard certification required within 3 months of hire date.
  3. Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 3 months of hire date.
Experience
Minimum time and type experience required for this position.
0-2 year’s security experience. Preference will be given to candidates with prior corporate security experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge, special skills and/or abilities required to perform the job functions (e.g., negotiation, technical writing; statistical evaluation).
  • Basic computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to make good decisions with available information.
Must obtain a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
Physical Requirements
List any special physical requirements needed to perform the job, such as ability to lift specific weight. List “None” if there are no special requirements.
Physical – Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time, lift up to 40 lbs., walk on even and uneven surfaces and stairs, have fine motor coordination, ability to pass a respirator fit test, and have ability to gown for clean room environments.
