Normal working hours for this position are Monday - Friday from 6:00am-2:30pm.

Position Summary:

The Line Maintenance Technician is responsible for the operation, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-speed manufacturing equipment in the FDA regulated environment of bioMerieux, Inc. St Louis. This role performs installation, repair, and maintenance of specialized and highly automated production line equipment. This position requires a high level of mechanical knowledge to lead troubleshooting efforts to solve and address complex problems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Preventive Maintenance
    • Complete Preventive Maintenance work orders prior to the completion due date.
    • Review Line Maintenance work instructions and modify as needed.
    • Maintain production equipment to run at required specifications.
    • Notify supervision of any PM inadequacies or parts shortages.
    • Complete preventive maintenance with no negative impact to production.
    • Perform component rebuilds as time allows
  • Corrective Maintenance
    • Follow proper procedures and techniques.
    • Quickly respond to line calls for machine repairs and adjustments.
    • Determine what tools are needed to effectively complete work orders.
    • Determine if the corrective maintenance job is one of a repetitive nature.  If so, develop a process to eliminate the reoccurrence.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Adhere to company and OSHA safety guidelines and support safety activities such as safety audits and adherence of wearing personal protective equipment.
    • Establish good documentation practices
    • Complete all scheduled training on-time.
    • Use of a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) correctly by completing pms, enter urgent work orders, attach parts, attach labor, search for parts.
    • Interface with the storeroom.  If a part is not stocked or counts are incorrect inform the Storeroom Coordinator to resolve the issue.
    • Work overtime as needed to ensure the required labor resource needs are met.
    • Navigation of finding documents and drawings in the applicable system
    • Consult with other maintenance personnel as warranted to discuss issues that affect the operations of the maintenance department by identifying and to help resolve recurring maintenance problems.
    • Reliable attendance and punctuality is an essential job function required for this position
    • Participate in root cause analysis training and apply to the job when determining cause of failure.
    • Support the continued growth and expand the knowledge in the department by performing On-The-Job training for others.
    • Conducting job safety analysis
    • Verifying the replacement components during system/machine operation failures and evaluating potential sources of errorDetermining when to escalate failures
    • Selecting correct standardization equipment or artifact and the appropriate M&TE for measurement
    • Applying appropriate measurement technique and interpreting measurement result
    • Evaluating potential sources of error
    • Electrical component evaluation and repair
    • Capable of evaluating design proposal changes

Education, Skills, & Experience: 

  • Technical degree in a manufacturing technology discipline such as Industrial Controls, Logic Programming, Manufacturing Processing, related field with 5 years of experience in maintenance, mechanical, HVAC, equipment repair OR high school diploma/GED and 7 years of related experience in maintenance, mechanical, HVAC, or equipment repair
  • Knowledge of manufacturing equipment involving mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic hardware.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and maintaining high speed manufacturing equipment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of understanding good manufacturing practices (GMP’s), ISO, and quality system regulations.
  • Experience using a computer and the use of a CMM system is preferred.
  • Knowledge of automation controls.
  • Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis tools and apply to the job.
  • Requires a high level of mechanical knowledge to lead troubleshooting efforts to solve and address complex problems.
  • Assist with production/maintenance investigations, when applicable.
