An SAP Procurement Specialist supports, maintains, updates, and enhances current SAP tools utilized for Materials Requirements Planning.  Serves as the scheduler for updating/loading manufacturing demand requirements in SAP. Works closely with buyers/planners to enhance, support, validate, and maintain the purchasing/planning tools and SQL based query/reporting programs.

 

Serves as a key support person to the SAP processes for procurement. Trains and supports purchasing, supply chain and other groups as necessary on purchasing and procurement processes, WIDs and tools. Creates flow charts of new/existing business processes to support purchasing, supply chain and materials management department. 

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioFire Diagnostics’ Quality System. Adheres to Regulatory requirements, including FDA, ISO, Legal, Ethical and BioFire specific procedures.
  2. Maintain and update current SAP tools used in Purchasing/Procurement.
  3. Serves as key communication point between materials and cross-functional departments regarding technical concerns, costing, quality and improvements to enhance the supply chain initiatives.
  4. Contributes to team efforts by participating on departmental or interdepartmental teams and engaging in that exchange to improve purchasing/procurement functions.
  5. Input forecasted demand (manufacturing build plans) into SAP on a monthly basis or as necessary.
  6. Serves as the key representative from the procurement department to analyze and test processes used in purchasing/procurement workflows.
  7. Support and train procurement department personnel on WIDs and SAP processes.
  8. Collaborates with SAP representatives (process architects and business analysts) to identify gaps with current process/flows to implement processes and solutions.
  9. May also purchase a variety of raw materials, equipment, chemicals, injected molded and/or machined parts, electronics and services in accordance with prescribed purchasing regulations and procedures.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Supplemental Data

 Some domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Training and Education

Bachelor’s degree in business, a technical or related field.

NAPM, APICS/ISM certification is a plus.

                       
Experience

Four years’ experience in a corporate environment, focused in a purchasing and planning related role such as purchasing, buying, supply chain, manufacturing, or comparable role with transferrable skills. 

Minimum three years functional SAP experience in purchasing role.

Minimum three years functional SAP experience in a planning role.

 

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of the medical industry or biotech is desired.
  2. Proficiency with MS Office and productivity tools.
  3. Experience writing SQL queries.
  4. Excellent reading, writing and communication skills.
  5. Functional knowledge of purchasing and planning practices/functions/transactions in SAP.
  6. Ability to effectively resolve disputes, hold crucial conversations and recommend solutions to identify the root cause and correct problems as needed.
