Position Summary:

A Molecular Systems Project Manager will work with department team members (especially managers) and representatives from other departments (Program Management, Engineering, R&D, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Transfer, Quality and Software) to manage documentation and support of existing projects as well as the development and introduction of new projects. Responsibilities include: project design documentation, evaluation of appropriate resources (personnel and equipment), and development and management of budgets and timelines.

This is a full time exempt position. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Normally receives no instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments.

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform all work and documentation in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BFDX’s Quality System.
  2. Acquire and maintain some knowledge of nucleic acid isolation principles and concepts.
  3. Provide project team coordination/resource allocation.
  4. Maintain all departmental design control documentation in collaboration with project management, development managers and technical writer.
  5. Balance priorities and resources among multiple concurrent projects with aggressive timelines in collaboration with department managers.
  6. Help identify project constraints and risks with development managers and develop action plans to overcome or eliminate potential project delays using collaboration and negotiation.
  7. May advise management on research and development progress.
  8. Manage appropriate department planning meetings and activities.
  9. May interact with various company departments.

Training and Education:

Requires a B.S in a scientific discipline or equivalent years and experience. Project management certification a plus.


2-3 years of project management experience in a research and/or development environment.
