The Mechanical Engineer works within a project* team under the leadership of a  team lead, project lead, or project manager. The engineer uses his/her experience and education to perform  engineering activities which are generally considered within the realm of mechanical engineering and any other expertise that might be held by this particular individual. This engineer is expected to work and communicate well with other members and leadership of the team to which he/she is assigned in order to meet the goals of the project*.


*Projects include but are not limited to: Instrument Development, Manufacturing Support (Instrument, Reagent, or Disposable), Manufacturing Process Development (Instrument, Reagent, or Disposable).


Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of BioMerieux Quality System..

  2. Applies knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as instruments and laboratory equipment as well as Manufacturing Processes and Equipment such as for use in Instrument, Reagent, and Disposable production. Ramping up to get product to design phase for diagnostic instrument

  3. May be involved in the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of Instrument, Processes, and Equipment consistent with above.

  4. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

  5. Develop 3D models in Solidworks

  6. Create detail prints, BOMs and assembly drawings as required


Training and Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar engineering program



  • 3-5 years’ experience in related field– including performance consistent experience.

  • 1-2 years’ experience using Solidworks

  • Experience with Medical device or Diagnostics product development is a plus.

  • Knowledge of ISO13485 and or FDA 802c is a plus.
