Position Summary

The Technical Sales Manager is responsible for customer satisfaction, customer relationship management, and successful implementation of Biomerieux and Invisible Sentinel technologies. The Technical Sales Manager is also responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers so that existing business is protected, and potential new business opportunities can be identified.  The Technical Sales Manager is expected to work with the bioMerieux Sales team in prospecting for business opportunities with new and existing customers. The Technical Sales Manager must have very good interpersonal, communication, presentation, technical and troubleshooting skills along with good product-market knowledge to succeed in their territory. Successful Technical Sales Managers must have very good interpersonal, communication, sales and presentation skills along with successful demonstration of Invisible Sentinel behavioral competencies, such as teamwork, leadership, adaptability, customer service orientation, influence, analytical thinking, organizational awareness and relationship building coupled with good product knowledge to succeed in their sales territory. 

 

Primary Responsibilites

  • To support new customer acquisition by helping the sales team in the pre-purchase sales process, and then ensuring high quality customer onboarding and training occurs.
  • Travel to existing customer sites to develop, maintain and grow the customer relationship.
  • To help achieve at least 100% of the territory reagent and customer acquisition goal.
  • To work with Field Service Engineers effectively to coordinate the installation of equipment as soon as possible following shipment.
  • Uncover new revenue opportunities within existing accounts and to pass those to the respective AM.
  • Technically train and travel with Account Managers as needed to promote sales opportunities and provide technical support. Assist with demonstrations / evaluations, as required. 
  • To maintain and assist the AM in growing existing customer’s business.
  • To submit semi-weekly expense reports and other reports as designated by the Head of Sales.
  • To update and maintain CRM resources as required.
  • Maintain customer contact with all customers via telephone, email, and / or on-site visits.
  • To participate in company and team meetings.
  • Assist R+D and/or the Chief Business Officer on special projects (as needed)
  • Continuing professional education and development in order to remain current in the marketplace.
  • Participate in Customer User Symposiums, Trade Shows, etc.
  • To efficiently travel within the territory so that customer needs and overall territory revenue objectives are met.
  • To foster Teamwork and collaboration.

 

Studies, Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

The Technical Sales Manager should have a minimum of a BS in a biological sciences/biotechnology and/or related fields.  Technical Sales Managers must have very good organization, interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.  Technical Sales Managers must have a thorough knowledge of relationship building skills and have good business acumen.  Good computer skills and conscientious record keeping are mandatory.  Technical Sales Manager are responsible for working very efficiently and effectively within the assigned territory to support revenue objectives and must be self-motivated.  Prior knowledge of the respective Industry Market Segments, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Competitive & Application knowledge, Product line and geographic territory are preferred.
