The bioMérieux Legal department is looking for a lawyer for its Adriatic & Iberia organization. This lawyer, with a legal degree (a Master of Law – LL.M, specialized in International Business law or equivalent in Italian law education system) will be located in Italy (Firenze) to support the South Europe sub-regions, with frequent travels to the countries that are part of those areas (e.g. Greece, Serbia, Spain, Portugal), as well as to the bioMérieux headquarters in France (Lyon).

 

What will be your mission ?

 

Your main missions will be to:

  • Be a true business partner and advisor to the head of the Iberia and Adriatic Regions, thereby providing pro-active and constructive legal advice for their business activities.
  • Negotiate, draft, validate in an autonomous way agreements relating to sales and purchasing activities of the subsidiaries of the group (sales agreements, distribution agreements, purchase of services, support of manufacturing activities, logistics contracts), including highly complex transactions and matters in an international context.
  • Advise internal clients, including senior executives, in the resolution of their legal issues.
  • Educate internal clients with regards to the legal implications of their operational decisions and make sure that these are taken in full understanding of the situation and at the proper level of management.
  • Defend the company’s interests in the context of pre-litigation procedures and disputes.
  • Participate in the implementation of, and training on, contractual templates and propose improvements.
  • Participate in the implementation, monitoring and enforcement of internal procedures, including contracts management, FCPA and export compliance and many other areas.
  • Train and inform internal clients about complex legal matters.
  • Be a member of Iberia and Adriatic sub-region’s Executive committees regions.

 

Who are you?

 

  • Bilingual in Italian or Spanish and English, you already have worked in a multicultural environment. French knowledge is a plus.
  • Having a robust experience in contractual negotiations (distribution/purchase/sale), and basic knowledge in corporate law; experience in software contracts would be appreciated; you are familiar with and have been managing international activities in the past.
  • Dynamic, you see and will fulfill your role both as a high value-adding legal business partner, and as a keeper or guardian of the group’s interests.
  • You must be a good listener, be able to identify in an autonomous and pro-active way where, when and how to help, be at all times curious, adaptable and flexible and be able to transform something that looks like a problem at first, into an opportunity.
  • Being able to work as a team and comfortable interacting with others will be essential, as you will have to build your own network within the company.
  • Finally, you will need to be independent and able to cope in times of high pressure. You will also need to have the standing and maturity to validly convince internal and external clients, so as to create and maintain the unquestionable and justified authority of the legal function.

 

This role is reporting to the Vice President & General Counsel EME&Africa.
