Instrument Manufacturing Engineer

The purpose of this position is to support, sustain and improve instrument manufacturing in an FDA regulated environment. Create, monitor and manage projects, including budgets and schedules. Support existing instrument platforms, product design improvements, cost reductions, and obsolescence solutions. Implement new product designs and processes to the production floor, including development of assembly tools and fixtures.  Provide technical expertise for operators, maintenance technicians, quality, and other engineers.



  1. Evaluate new technological solutions to determine feasibility, implementation, verification, and validation requirements.
  2. Manage project schedules, budgets, documentation, and implementation into production
  3. Initiate and conduct verification testing of new designs.
  4. Initiate and conduct validation testing of production processes and test equipment.
  5. Complete change management activities to introduce changes to the production floor.
  6. Define, review, and check product Bill of Materials (BOM) structures, assembly instructions, and test procedures for use on the production floor.
  7. Work with cross functional teams to manage material run out, deliver projects on time, and to meet FDA requirements for good documentation associated with the project.
  8. Resolve technical problems on the production floor.
  9. Resolve non-conforming material issues and coordinate corrective measures.
  10. Identify quality issues and manage resolutions.



  1. BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years of work experience.
  2. Knowledge of engineering design processes, tooling, production and assembly methods for electro/mechanical materials and components.
  3. Knowledge of product design.
  4. Knowledge of computer and CAD systems (Solidworks, Creo, and/or Altium, etc)
  5. Knowledge of project management software (MS Office Suites – Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint).
  6. Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  7. Knowledge of the FDA, QSR, and ISO quality systems preferred.
  8. Knowledge of GD&T (for Mechanical Engineers) preferred.
  9. Effective verbal and written communication skills.    
  10. Problem-solving abilities.       
  11. Analyses in specific engineering discipline.  
  12. Cost estimating and budgeting skills.
  13. Time management skills.
