Summary of Job Description

This is a global position leading the Programs and Projects for the Microbiology Unit.  Will manage a group of Project managers and Program Directors.  This position will ensure Unit Projects Portfolio alignment with vision and strategy of the Unit, that overall pipeline of projects maximizes business and medical value for the Unit, provides information on projects progress to unit members.  Manages a group of program directors and ensures functional excellence of the group, best practices sharing top performance, and development of project managers in terms of project management excellence within the portfolio.

 

Main Accountabilities:

Ensures alignment between project priorities, Company, and unit strategy.  Provides recommendations to unit head and unit members to define LRP and/or Company global strategy.  Regularly reports on the unit priority and list projects progress to unit members and department heads.
Contributes to unit strategy definition by helping to prioritize projects using scoring and ranking tools to get a balanced and optimized portfolio of projects.
Ensures proper allocation, arbitration and resolution of resources conflicts by fostering collaboration with other departments.  Will set up and manage the departmental budget and ensure compliance with the quality system and regulations.
Manages the project management group to improve individual performance, collective best practices, and functional excellence.  Ensures Project Management best practices are at a state of the art level.  Ensures performance management process by evaluating project(s) managers performance and driving development/training plans.
Can lead one or several complex projects (system project, partnership, merging, acquisition, etc.).
Will lead several complex projects simultaneously.


Position Requirements:

Cultural awareness and ability to manage cross-cultural teams.
Manages a group of project managers and ensures functional excellence of the group.
Portfolio balance to meet the strategic, medical or business value needs of the company.  

Portfolio tracking/KPI management with executive-level communications/updates.


Typical experience, skills, and qualifications:

Education/Experience: 
Master’s degree with 10-15 years of relevant experience in project management in a regulated environment; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Deep understanding of the Company, unit strategy, operations product development, product lifecycle ma
nagement, project management, project management skills, leadership, change management (Business/Strategy-deep understanding).
