Sr. Platform and Security Engineer

Position Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic and energetic Senior Platform and Security engineer at our Durham, North Carolina location that can help us manage and support our customer product analytics platform. In this role, you will work with a team on all aspects of planning, design, installation, configuration, support and security of the applications that make up the platform including, SAS, Google Cloud Platform, AWS and others. In this role you will have security and operational oversight and have the opportunity to engage directly with product development, and external stakeholders on the future development of the platform. You will work with some of the best experts in the field and leading technology partners in the industry across the globe.   • Development and Management of BioMerieux's product analytics platform and support the product development teams for the implementation of cybersecurity solutions.
  • Working globally to provide multi-level support, Level 3/Level 4 to internal and external stakeholders to minimize service disruption and facilitate operations
  • Provide implementation activities to include plan, perform and implement installations and upgrades and implement/sustain middleware application components.
  • Research, recommend, evaluate and implement information security solutions that identify and/or protect against potential threats, and respond to security violations. Implement or coordinate remediation required by audits, and document exceptions as necessary.
  • Perform regular Security assessments of network infrastructure, hosts and applications Oversee Penetration testing of applications and infrastructure
  • Manage the activities of internal and external (consultants) product security teams in coordination with the Global Product Cybersecurity teams
  • Support the sales and marketing teams in their activities with customers and answer customer cybersecurity questionnaires.


Experience and Studies:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Security or equivalent field experienced required.
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies, business drivers and emerging computing trends
  • Thorough understanding of Hybrid Cloud Computing: virtualization technologies, Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service and Software as a Service Cloud delivery models and the current competitive landscape
  • Extensive experience with Cloud technologies (such as Azure, AWS, GCP) and native toolsets such as Azure ARM Templates, Terraform, AWS Cloud Formation
  • Strong knowledge of Incident, Problem & change management
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and data handling and management processes for compliance eligibility 
  • Administering IT security controls in an organization.
  • Knowledge of technical infrastructure, networks, databases and systems in relation to IT Security and IT Risk.
  • Experience performing security reviews and risk assessments
  • Demonstrated knowledge of how to implement security policies and frameworks
  • Operational knowledge of security solutions such as IDS/IPS, Web Security, MFA, DLP, EDR and cloud security tools


Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • Network engineering experience, CCNA or higher (CCNP and/or CCIE)
  • Database experience MSQL, PostGres
  • CCNA or higher (CCNP and/or CCIE)
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • NIST Cybersecurity Framework (NCSF)
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
