The Management Information Systems (IS) is fully involved in bioMérieux’s digital transformation strategy  worldwide. Our IS teams are in charge of key projects such as the global deployment of our Salesforce CRM solution, SAP and IoT (Internet of Things). They also lead “proofs of concept” related to innovative services with high added value for bioMérieux’s activities. They partner with specialized stakeholders on reference technologies (SAP HANA,, Amazon Web Services, SAP Cloud Platform or Microsoft Office 365) to contribute to the constant improvement of bioMérieux’s services.


Position Summary:

This engineer works within a project team under the leadership of a more experienced individual such as a team lead, project lead, or project manager. The engineer uses his experience and education to perform the types of engineering activities which are generally considered within the realm of electrical engineering and any other expertise that might be held by this particular individual. This engineer is expected to work and communicate well with other members and leadership of the team to which he/she is assigned in order to meet the goals of the project*.


*Projects include but are not limited to: Instrument Development, Manufacturing Support, Manufacturing Process Development.


Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as instruments and laboratory equipment as well as Manufacturing Processes and Equipment for use in Instrument, Reagent, and Disposable production.
  • Design circuit board assemblies using ECAD software to capture schematics and complete PCB layout.
  • Devise test plans to confirm the functionality and acceptability of electrical components and systems.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of designs, concepts, and tests.
  • Research and consult with vendors to specify electrical components that meet functional, reliability, and cost requirements.
  • Support the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and/or repair of Instrument, Processes, and Equipment.
  • Support compliance and certification efforts when needed, including testing to FCC, CE, UL, and FDA standards.
  • Work closely with mechanical, firmware, and biochemistry teams to ensure electrical designs fulfill overall system requirements.
  • Perform all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of the company Quality System.
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.


Studies and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
  • 0-2 years’ experience in related field, including performance consistent with said experience.


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Analog and digital board-level electronic design
  • Familiarity with ECAD software for schematic capture and PCB design
    • Experience with Altium Designer preferred
  • Understanding of microcontrollers and FPGAs
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) concepts
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and proficiency with electronic testing equipment
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate well with others
  • Attention to detail
