The Université designs, pilots and runs, for all the entities of the organization, leadership and development programs. Our programs include sequential leadership “laddered” programs, open enrollment soft-skills development classes, a substantial digital offering, and cross-functional technical “Academies”.   Our team also offers team performance and leader interventions such as 360 degree feedback, and DISC and other team interventions.  We deploy our training programs either via our team of internal trainer/facilitators, or by relying on external trainer partners.


Mérieux Université headquarters is located in Lyon, France.  This role will be located/part with a team of trainers/facilitators based out of Salt Lake City, UT.  Our direct clients will span Canada, multiple locations across the US (Durham NC., St. Louis, MS, Chicago, IL, Baltimore MD,), and eight countries in LATAM.  Our very close partners include Human Resources, Business Technical imbedded training organizations, and global Learning and Development strategic partners.


The Université is organized in three ‘functional divisions’ : Organization Effectiveness & Team Performance / Global Training / Digital Learning Strategy.  Although we are hiring for this role a leadership and employee trainer/facilitator, we are looking forward to a quick development path of our team members to also take on team performance and leader coaching responsibilities.


Position Summary:

This role as leadership and employee development trainer/facilitator will be located in Salt Lake City, Durham N.C., or St. Louis MS, and will report directly to the Director, Merieux Universite- Americas . He/she will be member of the larger corporate university global team, and often work across regions, and across Institut Merieux divisions/companies.


Primary Duties:

In close cooperation with L&D partners of Institut Mérieux entities, he/she will:

  • Work in partnership with our learning team, our Learning and Development COE, and global HR teams to identify and address leadership and individually contributor development requirements. 
  • Develop, schedule, and deliver behavioral-based leadership development courses via open enrollment calendars, as part of our progressive leadership programs, and in support of our functional academies.
  • Partner with the global corporate university within Merieux Universite to understand and continuously adjust capabilities needed for global programs.
  • Consult and collaborate with others across our global footprint who conduct training in the organization (i.e. embedded training teams) to coordinate activities and ensure maximum use of available resources.  Partner with, or manage, external providers as appropriate
  • Recognize career growth opportunities through serving expanded client populations, and skill development, in the areas of team performance, and team and leader coaching.


Eduacation and Experience:

  • BS or SM in Instructional Design/Education/Organization Behavior/Organization Development.
  • 5 + years of experience in Learning & Development, Adult Education, or Corporate Training
  • Bilingual in Spanish (primary need), and also Portugese (secondary need) – Also comfort and interest working across multiple countries/cultures in LATAM
  • Expert Facilitator and Trainer (In-classroom and virtual)
  • Ideally certified in one or more of the following: DDI Course Facilitator;  DDI Leadership Mirror (360), CLS Situational Leadership, TTI (DiSC &/or EQ), and Crucial Conversations
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to deliver training and facilitation to a diverse audience, including senior management.
  • Experience with Course Design (Classroom and/or virtual) is desirable


Preferred Competencies/Abilities and Experience:

  • Global experience/perspective
  • Experience in an HR and/or Organizational Development consulting role a plus
  • For development purposes, interest in developing skills in team performance consulting and leader coaching (ICF certification fully funded for your development)
  • Travel Requirements:  5-10% abroad; up to 50% travel to domestic sites for one to two day periods
  • Key Performance Indicator Topics:  Performance in role will be evaluated with client satisfaction, training/facilitation volume, number of team coaching sessions, curricula developed, and training productivity
