Inside Sales Representative

Primary Purpose and Overall Objective of the Job:

The purpose of this position is to support the growth of the US Industry business through direct telesales of BIOMERIEUX solutions for determined product lines or customer categories.  This position will also work closely with the US Marketing and Sales team to ensure that leads are properly handled and communicated to the right person in the company.



  • Direct sales of BIOMERIEUX solutions and services for determined product lines or customer categories
  • Proactive outbound initiatives for relevant projects defined with the Sales and Marketing teams  
  • Management and tracking of all leads from various external lead sources. 
  • Assignment of inbound leads coming from bioMerieux’ websites to the Sales owners via CRM following a defined process.
  • Acts as a liaison with the sales team to pass on potential leads, checking that the necessary contact is then made by them and any requested action taken
  • Development of best practices with guidance from the Digital marketing manager, Marketing Director, and Communication team for the US.
  • Database cleansing – Salesforce/Pardot, trade lists and various secondary information sources
  • Creation and verification of accurate and complete customer lists for ad targeting
  • Support of prospecting activities including but not limited to 
    • LinkedIN initiatives
    • Data mining of relevant trade resources
    • Third Party databases or other non-standard sources


The successful applicant is expected to work flexibly in an office environment with a cross functional team. They must be well organized and flexible, enjoy the challenges of working in a matrix organization, and in working with diverse people (cross-culturally) and projects.  The ability to interact with colleagues at various levels of the organization in a fast-paced environment, while remaining dynamic, proactive and resourceful, with high levels of professionalism, responsiveness, and attention to detail, are all crucial to this role.  This position requires occasional travel and involves potential for overnight stays outside the greater Chicago area.  Strategic B2B Marketing and Communications with a life science, diagnostic, food, or healthcare company will be considered favourably.  The role will be expected to work independently with only a moderate level of supervision, but pro-actively collaborate with colleagues in commercial or support roles, external service providers, agencies and other relevant industry stakeholders. 

Studies and Experience:

  • BA or BS in Marketing, Microbiology or another related science or equivalent education and experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience within sales or telesales capacity with strategy development 
  • Certifications on google analytics, salesforce/CRM/Pardot, data driven marketing programs are a plus


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.  Proficiency in French / Spanish would be highly regarded.
  • Ability to multitask and work within deadlines, professionally managing competing priorities.
  • Strong MS Office skills including PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel and Word, and experience with web-based platforms for relationship management (Salesforce/Pardot, LinkedIn, Researchgate, Drupal etc.)
  • Database experience with relevant BI tools.  OPERA/Tableau a plus
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed
  • Willingness and ability to comply with bioMérieux Corporate Business Ethics & Compliance policies.
  • Experience working in a matrix organization in multinational companies would be advantageous.
  • Must have good organization, people, and communication skills. 
  • Have the ability to work efficiently and effectively and lead by example.  
  • Knowledge of the Food and Healthcare markets preferred
  • Understanding of how to work with variable datasets to extract meaningful information to aid in decision-making.
  • Ability to work with & influence people without formal authority.
  • Excellent presentation skills to all levels of decision makers.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
