International Transportation Manager

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for International Transport operational duties related to the shipments of the company’s products from the US International Distribution Centers (IDC) to its International Subsidiaries and Distributors worldwide (exports) by air, ocean and truck mode, ensuring cold chain constraints are respected.

The position is also responsible for the transport and customs clearance of some import shipments to the US by air and ocean mode.

Maintain the company’s compliance program relating to customs, duties, packaging, master data coordination and regulatory requirements such as Dangerous Goods from IATA, C-TPAT, cold chain management, and several others.

 

Responsibilities:

Export Transportation

  • Approve  transportation options, routes, services based on customer needs, industry and transportation market trends
  • Interact with IDC Operations and International Sales Admin teams to ensure the timely and accurate processing and shipment of customer orders.
  • Ensure Quality compliance, manage transportation complaints

  • Manage cost through follow up with internal departments (Financial, Sales Admin) . Implement savings plan
  • Manage the carriers (KPI review, carbon footprint, business review with purchasing dept., continuous improvement and innovation)
  • Actively participate to the carriers RFQ process with Purchasing department

 

Import and Customs

  • Knowledge of customs and compliance, able to back up the Import Manager
  • Track, trace, and manage part of the imports into the United States from point of departure to final delivery at bioMerieux sites.
  • Give instructions for clearing to the customs broker and to Health authorities and Veterinary services when applicable
  • Follow and monitor final delivery to manufacturing sites and US IDC’s, ensuring communication between all partie’s (broker, carriers, logistics partners, consignee). Manage transportation claim if necessary, based on incoterm.
  • Organize transportation activities to the US sites when managed under EXW, or FCA from shippers out of US : Responsible to book and follow transport from origin to destination with carrier according to environmental conditions requested by consignee

 

Studies and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • At least 5 years of relevant operational experience in Transportation and customs
  • Export/Import/customs experience required for transportation by air/ocean and truck modes

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge in International Trade
  • Dangerous goods certified / cold chain management is appreciated
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and challenge carriers
  • Demonstrate effective oral and written communication, strong analytical skills. Highly organized, detail-oriented and driven by a sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of Supply Chain issues/topics and demonstrated ability to manage a high workload
  • Participate effectively in complex Supply Chain projects; demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and in an International environment
  • MS Office proficiency, especially with spreadsheet preparation, is highly recommended. Some experience with a ERP systems and logistics would be helpful but not required.  SAP experience is preferred.
