Position Summary:

The Global Labeling Platform Product Labeling and Documentation Specialist works as an Information Architect to support technical writers in the Component Content Management System (CCMS) with the creation and update of DITA-compliant Instructions for Use, acts as a referent for departmental procedures and tools, provides guidance, support and troubleshooting for the main areas of focus (structured authoring, content reuse, localization workflow, and publication workflow), and contributes to overall content strategy for the Global Product Labeling and Documentation department. This position requires proficiency using XML-based authoring tools, working knowledge of component content management systems, and an understanding of XML, HTML, XSLT and XSL-FO.

Responsibilities:

  • Configure and administer tools and update / publish stylesheets and templates
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure compliant, high-quality deliverables are produced on time
  • Evaluate, plan, and convert legacy documentation into a structured format
  • Make recommendations to improve standard technical writing practices, support content reuse and the localization workflow, and help produce deliverables in multiple formats
  • Assess options, propose solutions, and validate strategies and tools to meet emerging needs and requirements
  • Identify new opportunities with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation
  • Maintain relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders to support and contribute to the evolution of the content development process
  • Understand and apply international regulations as they apply to labeling
  • Create and maintain internal procedures, establish best practices, and enforce quality
  • Investigate and troubleshoot technical issues related to content architecture and localization workflows
  • Communicate information to key users and provide training as needed

Education and Experience:

BS / BA in Technical Communication, Computer Science, or related technical field

Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential

Demonstrated experience with XML-based authoring tools and content management systems required

Experience working with customized DITA stylesheets is preferred

Experience in healthcare, medical devices, or other regulated environment is preferred

Skills and Qualifications:

Understanding of DITA content management systems

Strong expertise with XML authoring tools (such as Oxygen XML Editor)

Understanding of DITA and familiarity with the DITA Open Toolkit

Ability to work independently as well as work in an international team environment

Excellent written / verbal communication and presentation skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
