Final QC Technical Lab Lead

Position Summary:

Provide direction to the Lab team including communicating lot status and priorities to the group as well as demonstrate good aseptic lab practices.  Prioritize lab tasks to ensure the schedule is met.  Assists and trains others as needed in performing and documenting testing.  Performs all duties using safety conscious practices.  In addition, the position is responsible for ensuring proper documentation according to cGMP’s and current procedures.Provide direction to the Lab team including communicating lot status and priorities to the group as well as demonstrate good aseptic lab practices.  Prioritize lab tasks to ensure the schedule is met.  Assists and trains others as needed in performing and documenting testing.  Performs all duties using safety conscious practices.  In addition, the position is responsible for ensuring proper documentation according to cGMP’s and current procedures.

 

Primary Duties:

  1. Test products as scheduled in an efficient and timely manner per procedures and specifications.
  2. Setup and perform physical inspection per procedure of products per schedule.
  3. Perform subculture of organisms required for testing, ensuring organism availability.
  4. Initiate Nonconformance reports (NCs) as needed specific to the microbiology laboratory.
  5. Provide training, guidance, and assistance to other team members.  Trains lab team to waivers.
  6. Schedule work tasks for department team members, ensuring deadlines are met.
  7. Troubleshoot instrument and equipment issues, perform root cause analysis as appropriate.
  8. Lead efforts to ensure continuous product and process improvement in Final QC lab (5S, Gemba).
  9. Provide technical writing for procedural updates and review updates before submittal to document control.
  10. Support QC and special projects as requested by management.
  11. Label cages to note status of product.
  12. Manage Reserve Samples.
  13. Test Environmental Monitoring samples.
  14. Support calibration program for the lab.  Performs investigations for OOT equipment.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, or other equivalent discipline and a minimum of three (3) years progressively responsible lab experience (including independent project management or equivalent industry experience)
  2. Must have a strong knowledge of antibiotic / microorganism interactions and GMP compliance.
  3. Must demonstrate the ability to lead others; prior experience supervising is preferred.
  4. Requires strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Package (Excel, Word, etc.).
  5. Must be able to demonstrate flexibility in responding to unexpected demands.  Must also be able to work in team environment, building effective working relationships.
  6. Requires effective written and oral communication skills.
